Today is Giving Tuesday, and the Richmond Christmas Fund is asking for your support.
Giving Tuesday was created in response to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, as a way during the busy holiday season to encourage the public to also support local and national charities.
Normally held on the first Tuesday in December, which will be the case again this year, the COVID-19 crisis has led to the creation of a second global day of generosity.
Hit hard by COVID-19, many organizations in the charitable sector have had to suspend their programs and services, while others have been forced to cancel major fundraising events with no way to make up the lost revenue.
Last year, the Christmas Fund helped brighten the holidays for 2,394 neighbours in need—more than ever before.
Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives, which oversees the Christmas Fund, says your gift to the Christmas Fund today will help ensure that, six months from now, it can provide a happier holiday season—and a little hope—to the countless Richmond families facing financial hardship due to COVID-19.
